It is hard to predict a favourite at this stage but I feel Delhi has their noses slightly in front at this moment.

It will be a battle between two teams playing for pride when the Suresh Raina-led Gujarat Lions meet the Delhi Daredevils at the Green Park in Kanpur tomorrow. The outcome of the match won’t have a bearing on the tournament result as both teams have been already crashed out of the tournament. The Daredevils have perhaps been the most inconsistent side in the tournament. While they were bowled out for 60 odd totals twice, they managed to chase 209 in a mere 17 overs against the Lions at home.

They suffered the biggest loss in IPL history when they went down to Mumbai Indians by 146 runs. Despite their batsmen not being consistent enough their biggest disappointment has been in the bowling department with experienced bowlers like Mohammad Shami, Pat Cummins and Zaheer himself leaking runs. Due to their inconsistency, they have kept chopping and changing which hasn’t helped their cause either.

Chris Morris has been exceptional with both bat and the ball but hasn’t got enough support on the other end. Despite not being in contention for the playoffs race DD will definitely look to finish their campaign on a high. Gujarat Lions, on the other hand, have been jolted by injuries which haven’t helped them but still, they managed to cruise to a comfortable victory against the Kings XI Punjab two days ago.

Like Daredevils Lions too will like to finish their campaign on a high with a couple of victories but it won’t be an easy task for them considering the prowess Delhi have. But given their inconsistency, Gujarat will back themselves to win. Apart from a certain Brendon McCullum, no one has fired all cylinders sans Dwayne Smith in the previous encounter. ‘

Due to their below-par showing in the tournament so far, it is hard to predict a favourite at this stage but I feel Delhi has their noses slightly in front at this moment. So with around 15 hours to go for the match to commence let us have a look at the match predictions for the 50th match of IPL 10.

Here is what Crictracker predicts for the game:

Scenario 1: GL will win the toss

Toss Prediction: GL will choose to bowl

First innings prediction: 175-185

2nd innings Prediction: DD will win by 12-15 runs

Scenario 2: DD will win the toss

Toss Prediction: DD choose to bowl

First innings Prediction: 165-175

2nd innings Prediction: DD will win by 5 wickets (with 4 balls to spare)

Head to Head Record

Overall: Total Matches –3, DD Won – 2, GL Won – 1

Delhi has a 2-1 advantage over Gujarat Lions on the head to head department but that doesn’t signify their dominance over them. In their first encounter, GL defeated DD by a solitary run but Delhi came back strongly to beat them comprehensively in the next two encounters.

Team Combination

Gujarat Lions

They only have 4 overseas players in their kitty but with all the experienced ones injured or busy with national duty, their foreign recruit from UAE, Chirag Suri is expected to warm the benches. They played some terrific brand of cricket against Punjab and is unlikely to tinker with their combination.

Predicted XI: Dwayne Smith, Ishan Kishan, Suresh Raina (c), Aaron Finch, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner, Dhawal Kulkarni, Basil Thampi, Ankit Soni, Pradeep Sangwan.

Delhi Daredevils

The South African duo of Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada have already left for national duty while Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews has also joined his national squad. Meanwhile opener Sam Billings won’t be available for the last few matches either. They have a strong young batting line-up and they will definitely like to come all guns blazing after a poor day in the office. Australian veteran fast bowler Bin Hilfenhaus might be considered in place of his countryman Pat Cummins just for a change.

Predicted XI: Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Corey Anderson, Marlon Samuels, Carlos Brathwaite, Ben Hilfenhaus, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami, Zaheer Khan (c).

Given both team’s indifferent run it will be hard to predict a favourite but on a personal front I feel Delhi will have their noses slightly ahead of Gujarat.
