IPL 2018 Auction: 5 cricketers who might be purchased for five times their base price

The Indian Premier League is a celebrated cricket tournament in India where players from across the globe grace their presence. Prior to the battle on the field, an auction is conducted where franchises bid for their favourite players.With the 2018 IPL Auction in and around the corner, things are beginning to heat up with the auctions set to make things interesting as to which players go under the hammer this time around. The franchises have several cricketers to choose from in the upcoming IPL auctions in Bangalore. Over the years, the auctions have been a witness to several bidding wars which spice up the event. Meanwhile, quite a few cricketers end up way above their base price. This time around, the list of 578 players have quite a few big names who might end up with five times their base price. However, he has been included in the list of English cricketers to go under the hammer on Auctions-day at Bangalore. He has grown in stature over the years and has been instrumental for whichever team he represented. He was snapped for a whopping 14.5 crores by the Rising Pune Supergiant in the tenth season of the Indian Premier and he didn’t let his team down one bit. His maiden IPL century against the Gujarat Lions has created an indelible impact on the psyche of cricket fans. He has a base price of 200 Lakhs for the eleventh season and it won’t spring a surprise if teams go hammer and tongs for the English all-rounder. 2. It has been hard to device a field for the left-hander as he has managed to score runs at will. The swashbuckling Kiwi has smashed three T20I centuries and is currently the record holder for the top century maker in international cricket. The Durban-born cricketer has previously been a part of the IPL as he was bagged by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2016 for 30 Lakhs. He went unsold in the 2017 Auctions, much to the surprise of his fans. He has a base price of 50 Lakhs and is expected to be one of the hottest picks in the 2018 IPL auctions owing to his stupendous form in the past few months. 3. Shakib Al Hasan Kolkata Knight Riders Shakib Al Hasan. The Khulna-cricketer has grown leaps and bounds over the years and subsequently has carved a reputation as a dependable cricketer. He also has played a fair amount of cricket in the Indian Premier League representing the Kolkata Knight Riders. He was bagged by the franchise in 2011 for $4.25 Lakhs. However, KKR released him after the 2014 season only to buy him back for the 2015 season. He has been playing T20s for various franchises across the globe and is a veteran in this format. Going into the eleventh season, the all-rounder has a whopping base-price of 100 Lakhs and the franchises might enter into a bidding war to grab the all-rounder. What happens for Shakib in the IPL 2018 auction remains to be seen. 4. Kagiso Rabada Kagiso Rabada of Delhi Daredevils. South Africa didn’t waste any time whatsoever and drafted Rabada into the national team. The decision paid dividends for them as he racked up some match-winning performances for the Proteas over the years. Recently, the pacer became the top-ranked bowler in Tests. The Johannesburg-born cricketer has played a fair bit in the Indian Premier League. Rabada has been grabbed by Delhi Daredevils for INR 5 Crores in 2017 and played six games for them. The sparkling youngster will enter the IPL 2018 auction with a base-price of 100 Lakhs and is speculated to bag a lucrative deal. 5. Andrew Tye Andrew Tye. He impressed in the 2015-16 season of the Big Bash League and was bagged by the Gujarat Lions for 50 Lakhs. However, he couldn’t get a game in his debut season. He played six games in 2017 and picked up 12 wickets during the season. He also picked up a hat-trick on debut against the Rising Pune Supergiant. Nevertheless, he sustained a shoulder injury which ruled him out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League. Recently, he bagged his third hat-trick in T20 cricket for the Perth Scorchers against the Sydney Sixers. The pacer has a base price of 100 Lakhs and is expected to go big in the upcoming IPL 2018 auction.
