The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) succumbed to a massive defeat against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. Shreyas Iyer’s belligerence with the willow blew them away. The KKR batting order capitulated after which they never recovered despite Andre Russell’s cameo.

As a result, they slumped to their fourth defeat in the tournament and are perilously standing on the fourth position in the league table. They are now pitted against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. There is cut-throat competition for the top four positions and every team in the league table is straining every sinew to outclass each other.

Chin Music in store for Kolkata?

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s men will be busy churning out their strategies to curb the Knight Riders. As per reports in The Times of India (TOI), Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian captain, has mentioned that short-pitched bowling might just do the trick for the Challengers. The short delivery has troubled quite a few KKR batsmen and it can definitely be implemented by RCB as well.

Trent Boult bowled a couple of chin-high bumpers, which got too big on the likes of Sunil Narine and Robin Uthappa. Chris Lynn has looked a tad jittery by the ‘chin-music’, which is a bit of a surprise, bearing in mind that he has been brought up on Australian wickets. Russell, who is a ferocious hitter of the cricket ball, can be curbed as well by using the delivery to good effect.

The strip at the Chinnaswamy has been kind to the batsmen and had offered peanuts for the bowlers to work with. They are expected to have another tough day at the office as the game is speculated to be a run-fest.
