The young leg-spinner from Rajasthan was a gem carved out by the Mumbai franchise in the 12th edition of IPL. He bowled attacking lines and provided the skipper with tight spells in middle-overs. Rahul Chahar played 13 times in which he fished as many wickets at a staggering economy rate of 6.55. He was the architect of Rohit’s winning side as he outfoxed even the best in the business with his skills, and that’s why he is similar to Aymeric Laporte of Vincent Kompany’s side.

The French centre back was a pivot of the Manchester City’s shield as he nullified even the best of the strikers with his defensive skills. Laporte has an impressive tackle success of 48% which can be compared with the economy rate of Chahar. He made a total of nearly 3000 passes in the entire season which is commendable. The brilliant defensive work of Frenchman against Liverpool where a goal separated both teams can be compared with the match-winning spell of Chahar against CSK where he scalped 2 wickets in his spell by giving away just 14 runs.

These players were the building blocks of their respective team’s monumental achievements in this season.
