IPL 2019: 5 Retained players who will get lesser bids if released
All these players were retained by their franchises despite not performing well in the last season.
4. Amit Mishra (Delhi Daredevils)
The wrist-spinner are in demand these days, especially in the shortest format. Amit Mishra is one such player who was bought by the Delhi Daredevils last season for Rs 4 Crore. The 36-year-old didn’t disappoint them as well scalping 12 wickets in 10 matches at a decent economy of 7.13. But one would always feel that DD should’ve thought twice before retaining him.
During the IPL next year, the Haryana cricketer will turn 37 and is not the one for the future. He brings a lot of experience to the table and his bowling is also key for any team he plays but may be at a lesser price now. Delhi would’ve saved a lot of money if they had released Mishra and invested in some other wrist spinner while also having his services for the next year.
Nevertheless, he will still be an asset to them in the next season but his chances of going all the way for the next few years look grim.
