IPL 2019: Best XI of the players who pulled out

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is undoubtedly the biggest T20 league in the world and its every cricketer dream to be a part of the league. Fame, money, packed grounds and high-quality cricket are what players thrive for and the IPL has it all. Rest of the cricket boards and even the ICC acknowledges its brand and hence no major international cricket takes place during the IPL. But since the 2019 World Cup starts just a couple of weeks after the IPL, some of the big players had to leave the tournament mid-way or some had to completely pull out of the tournament in order to keep themselves fit for the World Cup. The England side plays a series against Pakistan before the World Cup and the Australians are conducting preparation camps for the World Cup. Here is the best IPL XI from the pulled out players. 1. David Warner David Warner. (Photo: IANS) Comebacks are never easy in sports and after missing the 2018 edition of the IPL due to the one-year ban imposed on him by Cricket Australia in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal, people had doubts about David Warner before the start of this years IPL. But with 692 runs in 12 innings, The Australian showed why he is considered among the best and most consistent performer in the history of the tournament. He left the IPL to join the Australian team recently after playing a match-winning inning of 81 runs. He is currently the orange cap holder with 692 runs and there is a high chance that he will keep the cap for this season as the gap between him and other players in the list is quite vast. 2. Jonny Bairstow Jonny Bairstow. (Photo Source: Twitter) At INR 2.2 crore, Jonny Bairstow has been one the smartest buys in the history of IPL auctions. The Englishman playing his first IPL performed beyond expectations. With 445 runs in 10 innings, He had a dream start to his IPL career. He along with David Warner formed an incredible opening pair combination and did the bulk of the scoring for the Hyderabad team. He played almost every shot in the cricketing books with utmost ease in his 114 runs innings off just 56 balls against the RCB team. He had to leave the IPL midway to join the England side but with the form he has shown in his debut season, he will definitely be back next year. 3. Jos Buttler (wk) Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler. (Photo Source: Surjeet Yadav/IANS) Since last season when he was promoted to open the innings, Jos Buttler has been a tremendous asset for the Rajasthan Royals. After scoring 5 consecutive fifties last year, He started the tournament this year with an innings of 69 runs where he was famous “Mankad” by Kings XI Punjab’s captain Ravi Ashwin. After his controversial dismissal in his first game of the season, he lost a bit of form and couldn’t do much in the next few games. But he finally came back to his true self with a match-winning inning of 59 runs against the Bangalore team. He finally left the tournament after featuring in 8 matches and scoring 311 runs and three fifties to his name. 4. Steven Smith (C) Steve Smith. (Photo Source: Twitter) Making a comeback after missing the tournament last year, Steven Smith didn’t have a very promising start to this years IPL. He was scoring runs but lacked fluency and consistency he is known for. Also with his team Rajasthan Royals struggling at the bottom of the table, The management of the team decided to make him the captain midway in the tournament. Since then the Australian hasn’t looked back and finally regained his lost touch. Before leaving the tournament he captained the team in 5 matches where he won 3, lost one and one match ended with no result. Once hanging at the bottom of the table, his team Rajasthan Royals now have a chance to qualify for the playoffs and they will have to thank the Australian for reviving their campaign before leaving the tournament. 5. Moeen Ali Moeen Ali. (Photo Source: Twitter) The 31-year-old English all-rounder has been one of the few positives for the Bangalore side in their yet another disappointing season. In which they have finished last and knocked out in the league despite having two matches in the league stage. Moeen Ali have been a vital cog of the team as he was good in a couple of matches with both ball and the bat. Against KKR, he was in a rampaging form. For Kuldeep Yadav, Moeen amassed 27 runs in one over. Moeen Ali showed his class and power hitting capabilities by hitting Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav for 26 runs in one over. His innings of 66 runs off 28 balls in that game kept RCB’s hope alive in the tournament. He finished the season with 220 runs with a strike rate of 165 and 6 wickets to his name. 6. Shakib Al Hasan Shakib Al Hasan. (Photo Source: Kuntal Chakrabarty/IANS) He didn’t get many chances this year because of the combination of the team and played only a handful of games before leaving the IPL midway to join the Bangladesh team. But with the all-around skills, he possesses its hard to leave the Bangladeshi all-rounder from any side. Shakib Al Hasan’s ability to win matches single-handedly with both bat and ball makes him one of the best all-rounders of the current generation. The dashing all-rounder will look to come back again next year and will hope he gets more chances to show his talent next season. 7. Ben Stokes Ben Stokes. Ben Stokes looked out of form with both bat and ball this year but the mere presence of an all-rounder of the quality of Ben Stokes gives any side a lot of balance. The best of Stokes in the IPL came back in 2017 playing for the Rising Pune Supergiants side where he scored 300+ runs and took more than 10 wickets. His team were the runners up that season and Ben Stokes played a major part in the success of the team. The Englishman will look to come back strongly next year after a few below par seasons and justify the money Rajasthan Royals spend for his services. 8. David Willey David Willey. (Photo by Gareth Copley/Getty Images,) He was signed as a replacement by the Chennai team last year and featured in three games for them. The team decided to retain him this year but he pulled out of the tournament last minute due to personal reason. The bowler is known to swing the new ball and get wickets in the power play overs. David Willey’s game is suited for the T20 format as he is also a very handy batsman. He has performed quite well in English domestic T20 competition and in the Big Bash League for the Perth team. He even opened the batting for the Perth team and played some match-winning innings with the bat. 9. Jofra Archer Jofra Archer. (Photo Source: Twitter) The Barbados born fast bowling all-rounder has been in exceptional form and has been the go-to bowler of the Rajasthan team for the past two years. Jofra Archer has 26 wickets in 21 IPL matches at an impressive economy of 7.53. He has been a complete bowler for the team with his ability to get wickets both in the powerplay and the death overs. He is known for bowling his heart out and keeps his head cool in pressure situations. Along with his bowling skills, he is a clean striker of the ball and one of the best fielders in the game of cricket. 10. Nathan Coulter-Nile Nathan Coulter-Nile. (Photo Source: Twitter) The fast bowler was expected to lead the Bangalore bowling lineup but had to pull out of the tournament last minute due to injury issues. Nathan Coulter Nile’s best performance in the IPL came in 2017 playing for the Kolkata team where he picked 15 wickets in 15 matches. He was bought by the RCB team in 2018 but missed the tournament due to injury issues. This year again he pulled out of the tournament and left the Bangalore side with very limited overseas bowling options in their squad. The bowler is known for bowling fast and always looking for wickets. He would look to sort his injury issues and come back strongly next year. 11. Jason Behrendorff Jason Behrendorff. (Photo: Sandeep Mahankal/IANS) A tall Australian bowler, Jason Behrendorff is known for extracting bounce from any surface due to his height. Also, his ability to swing the ball in both directions makes him a wicket-taking option, especially with the new ball. He has just played 5 IPL matches and has 5 wickets to his name. His 2-22 against the Chennai team earlier this season was instrumental in Mumbai’s defending the score and handling the Chennai team their first defeat of the season.
