Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) broke their Jaipur hoodoo as they clinched the 14-run win over Rajasthan Royals in a dramatic thriller. Chris Gayle’s 47-ball 79 and Sarfaraz Khan’s unbeaten 29-ball 46 powered the KXIP to 184/4. Jos Buttler was taking the game away from Kings XI’s grasp as he scored 69 from 43 balls. However, the KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin mankaded Buttler to turn the things around. The home team lost wickets in a flurry when they needed 39 from the last four overs and lost the game.

Here are the major stats and numbers recorded during Kings XI’s thrilling win in Jaipur:

KXIP’s maiden win in Jaipur:

1 – For the first time, the Kings XI Punjab have won an IPL game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. KXIP lost all their previous five IPL matches against the Rajasthan Royals they played in Jaipur.

5 – This win brought an end to Kings XI’s 5-match losing streak in the IPL. The KXIP team lost each of their last five matches in the previous IPL edition.

Buttler continues his record against KXIP:

4Jos Buttler’s 69 in this game is his 4th consecutive fifty against the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. He scored 82 and 51 in the previous edition for the Royals and scored 77 for Mumbai Indians in 2017. On all the four instances, Buttler was opening the innings.

Kulkarni and Ashwin get their bunnies:

4 – Ravichandran Ashwin claimed the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane in the IPL for the 4th time. Rahane scored 28 runs from 30 deliveries in the IPL off Ashwin thus far at an average of seven runs.

8 – KL Rahul’s batting average in the IPL against Dhawal Kulkarni. Rahul has been dismissed on four instances in the league by Kulkarni including this game. KL has scored 32 runs from 22 deliveries against Dhawal in the IPL.

Gayle @ 4000:

112 – Chris Gayle became only the 2nd overseas player and the 9th overall to score 4000+ runs in the IPL. Gayle got to the milestone in 112 innings; two lesser than the record held by David Warner, the other overseas player to complete 4000 runs in the IPL.

A new dismissal in the IPL:

1 – Ravichandran Ashwin ‘mankaded’ Jos Buttler and recorded the first instance of ‘Mankad’ in the IPL. However, this was the 2nd time Buttler has been dismissed in such a fashion. Sachithra Senanayake of Sri Lanka Mankaded Buttler during an ODI in 2014 but not before handing a warning.

Sarfaraz gets his best:

46* – Sarfaraz Khan’s unbeaten 29-ball 46 in this game is his highest score in the IPL. His previous highest IPL score was 45* for the RCB also against RR in 2015. Interestingly, Sarfaraz hasn’t played any professional cricket since the previous IPL season. The last year’s RR-RCB game also in Jaipur was Sarfaraz’s previous professional match.
