The Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win of the season with a convincing 5-wicket win in a high-scoring game against the Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson’s unbeaten century and skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s 70 took the visitors to 198/2 in their 20 overs. David Warner’s 37-ball 69 gave the much-needed start for the SRH in the big chase.

He along with Jonny Bairstow (45 off 28 balls) added 110 in only 9.4 overs for the first wicket. Vijay Shankar’s 15-ball 35 brought down the equation to run-a-ball before the visitors claimed three quick wickets. However, Yusuf Pathan and Rashid Khan ensured the Sunrisers kept their 100% win record at home against the Royals.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during the first win of the season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad:

A record chase:

199 – The 199-run chase by Sunrisers Hyderabad in this game is their highest successful chase and the highest by any team against the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. SRH’s previous highest chase was 188 against Delhi Daredevils in the previous edition. The previous highest successful chase in the IPL against the RR team was 192 by the Kings XI during the 2014 season game in Sharjah.

SRH’s bowling woes:

5 – The Sunrisers team has conceded five centuries since the beginning of the 2018 edition while the remaining seven teams conceded only one in this period.

6 – Number of centuries that Sunrisers Hyderabad has conceded in the IPL thus far. Between 2013 and 2017 editions, SRH conceded only one century which was scored by Brendon McCullum for CSK in 2015. However, since the start of 2018 season, as many as five players scored tons in the IPL against the Sunrisers including Samson in this game.

Warner sets the platform:

9David Warner now has been part of nine 100-run opening stands in the IPL; the joint-most any player has been involved in the league. Chris Gayle has also been a part of nine century partnerships for the first wicket in the IPL.

17 – Warner involved in as many as 17 century partnerships in the IPL; the 2nd most by any player. Virat Kohli leads the list as he was involved in 18 100-run stands in the history of the league.

Samson makes it big:

5 – Sanju Samson’s century is the 5th in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals. Shane Watson is the only player to score more than one ton for RR and his hundred in 2015 was their last.

11 – Sanju Samson became the 11th player in the history of IPL to score more than one hundred. He is the 4th Indian to achieve the feat in the league after Virat Kohli (4), Murali Vijay (2) and Virender Sehwag (2).

Rashid gets his bunny:

4 – Rashid Khan has dismissed Jos Buttler four times in four meetings in the Twenty20 format. Buttler managed to score only four runs from the ten deliveries he faced from the leg-spinner in this format.

A contradictory game for Rahane and Bhuvneshwar:

55 – Runs Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded from his four overs in this game; the joint-most he ever conceded in a Twenty20 match. Bhuvneshwar was hit for 55 runs during the 2016 IPL game by the RCB team in Bangalore.

The pacer conceded 51 runs during last season’s away fixture against Delhi Daredevils; the only other instance of him conceding 50+ runs in a Twenty20 match.

70 – Ajinkya Rahane’s 70 in this game is his highest score in the IPL from his previous 36 innings. In the first 85 innings in the IPL, Rahane scored 70 and more on eight instances.
