IPL 2020: 4 players CSK could have bought instead of retaining Kedar Jadhav
Despite playing 14 matches for the three-time winners last season, 34-year-old Jadhav managed just 162 runs at an average of 18.00.
1. Baba Aparajith
It is still baffling as to why the IPL franchises (especially Chennai Super Kings) are not showing any interest in a player like Aparajith’s calibre. Over the years, he has done more than what one has to do to earn a lucrative IPL contract. Despite being a part of Chennai Super Kings and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant, he is yet to play an IPL game in his career.
The Tamil Nadu all-rounder has maintained his consistency with the bat scoring heavily in almost every Indian domestic season. The Chennai-born player is a perfect limited-overs commodity and at just INR 20 lakhs, Chennai Super Kings couldn’t have asked for a better player to bolster their beleaguered middle-order. Aparajith has proved his temperament to build crucial partnerships and the ability to score quick runs on several occasions while playing for Tamil Nadu.
A proven off-spinner, the 25-year-old has one First-class five-wicket haul, one List A four-wicket haul to his name apart from registering an economy of 6.03 in T20s. Given his rich domestic experience, all-round credentials and familiarity with the conditions at MA Chidambaram stadium, Aparajith would have been the ideal candidate for CSK instead of Kedar Jadhav.
