IPL 2020: 5 teenagers who can be picked in the auction

We talk about the Indian Premier League (IPL) being the best in the world as it has the best players from across the globe not only compete against each other but also play with each other. It may not be as high as international cricket, but the quality of cricket in the IPL is on another level. There are players from around the world that want to play in the IPL. More than 970 players have registered for the 2020 season of the IPL auction which underlines the popularity. 332 of them have been shortlisted and only 73 slots are available. There are quite a few teenagers who’ve put up their names as well. Every year, there is someone or the other making big news through the IPL or even in the auctions. Last year, it was Prabhsimran Singh and Paras Ray Barman. Hence, with the auction just a few days away, we look at five teenagers who can be picked: Yashasvi Jaiswal Yashasvi Jaiswal. (Photo Source: Twitter) There’s absolutely no doubt that the first name that will come to mind in this list is Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-handed opener who will turn 18 in a couple of weeks has been very impressive. He had an excellent time in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Despite playing just five games in the tournament, Jaiswal was fifth among the leading run-getters. He amassed 564 runs at an average of 112.80 which included three tons and a fifty. Moreover, these runs came at a strike-rate of 104.05. In a game against Jharkhand, the Mumbai teenager smashed 203, smoking 12 sixes and 17 fours. He has continued to pile on the runs in Under-19 cricket as well. Jaiswal has been picked for the Under-19 World Cup as well. But before that, he will be one of the attractive uncapped Indian players in the auctions. Priyam Garg Priyam Garg. (Photo Source: Twitter) Here is another upcoming Under-19 star who has already made news in the Indian domestic cricketing circles. Priyam Garg is the captain of the current India under-19 team and will also be leading the side in the Under-19 World Cup early next year. He has had an excellent start to his domestic career. The 19-year-old Uttar Pradesh lad has already played more than 10 games for his state side in each of the three formats. In fact, he has a good record in all three formats as well. While he averages 66.69 in first-class cricket, Garg averages 47.13 and strikes at 90.87 in the 50-over format. As far as T20s are concerned, Garg played 11 games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season. He made 227 runs and was striking at 132.74. Hence, he will be one of the teenagers to watch out for. Prabhsimran Singh Prabhsimran Singh. (Photo Source: Twitter) Last year, PrabhSimran Singh made headlines after the IPL auction. The teenage sensation had been bagged by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for a stunning amount of INR 4.8 crore. He had not even played T20s and was picked as an Under-19 prodigy. The teenager played one game in the entire season and scored 16 off 17 balls. However, he has played the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for two seasons in a row now. But he has been inconsistent but has shown quite a bit of promise. He has a strike-rate of nearly 140 in T20 cricket and also has a couple of half-centuries to his name. Singh may not attract teams as much as he did last year but there is a big chance of him being picked again. He has a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Noor Ahmad Noor Ahmad. (Photo Source: Twitter) A lot of people may not have heard the name Noor Ahmad but he is making history by entering this IPL auction. Noor Ahmad is a 14-year-old chinaman bowler from Afghanistan who has impressed a lot in the recent past. Be it T20 cricket or Under-19 cricket, he has constantly picked up wickets. In seven Youth ODIs, Ahmad has taken 15 wickets at an average of 15.33 and has an economy of 3.97. As far as T20 cricket is concerned, the chinaman bowler has eight wickets from seven games. But he is a tidy customer and has an economy of 6.48 in his short T20 career. According to reports, Ahmad was called for trails by Rajasthan Royals (RR). Thus, there is a big chance of Ahmad running away with an IPL contract. In fact, he is just one among the seven Afghan players who put up their names and registered for the 2020 auction. Ravi Bishnoi Ravi Bishnoi. (Photo Source: Twitter) Ravi Bishnoi is another player who is a part of the Indian Under-19 World Cup squad who will play the World Cup next year. He has been pretty impressive so far. Ravi Bishnoi is a leg-spinner who has a few variations and can be an effective lower-order batsman as well. The 19-year-old has played six List ‘A’ games and six T20s. He had good Vijay Hazare Trophy where he took seven wickets with the ball. The leg-spinner also has a good Under-19 record. In seven Youth ODIs, Bishnoi has picked up 12 wickets at an average of 23.50. He hasn’t had a lot of opportunities with the bat and will be itching for a big opportunity.
