IPL 2022: 10 Players who can attract big bids in the mega auction

There has been a lot of talks regarding the IPL 2022 mega auction. Teams and fans seem are all geared up for it already. Having good and skillful cricketers in your team often helps your cause. This is one of the major reasons why every team targets a few players in an auction. Over the years, we have seen a lot of mega auctions where a relatively unpopular yet effective cricketer has attracted a big bid. This occurs when that particular cricketer does well time and again and proves why he deserves a better contract. Heading into the IPL 2022 auction, there are several cricketers in the past who have gone under the radar and have a chance to fetch a hefty price this time around. So who are those cricketers who can be sold for a big amount in the upcoming mega auction? Today we shall be taking a look at – 10 players who might fetch big in IPL 2022 mega auction 10) Mohammed Siraj Mohammed Siraj. His fifer in the final Test showed that he is someone meant for greater things. Despite not being a consistent performer in the IPL in the past, he has now ensured that his performances in the toughest T20 league in the world are worth speaking of. Speaking about his overall numbers, the Indian pacer has taken 45 wickets in 42 IPL games so far. His bowling average and strike rate in IPL are 28.33 and 19.38 respectively. His performance in the first half of IPL 2021 was superb as well. Thus, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a lot of teams try to get Siraj in the IPL 2022 mega auction. 9) Jason Roy Jason Roy. It is shocking when you realize that he still hasn’t set the IPL on fire. Roy’s numbers speak for himself. He has scored 1087 runs in the 45 T20I games he has played so far. He has an average and strike rate of 24.16 and 141.91 respectively. Despite playing just the 8 IPL games, his numbers still look decent, to say the least. The English opener hasn’t got a consistent run in the Indian T20 league and this might just be the right time for him to get one. Teams are looking for explosive openers who can give their team quick starts. The English speedster is probably one of those bowlers who might be wanted by almost all the franchises. Bowlers with extra pace are always a boon in the shortest format of the game. Of late, the Durham pacer has significantly improved his T20 game. He has picked 26 wickets in 17 T20I matches and has a bowling average and strike rate of 20.96 and 14.65 respectively. His economy rate is 8.58, which is good considering he bowls the toughest overs. Another important point to be noted is the fact that Wood can bowl his quicker deliveries in the death as well. This is something that every T20 captain dreams of. Hence, various franchises would have their eyes on Wood. 7) Jonny Bairstow Jonny Bairstow. His ability to play the big shots at will is what attracts a lot of attention. Bairstow has been absolutely sensational in the IPL. After being picked up for a mere 2.2 crore rupees in the IPL 2019 auction, the English wicketkeeper impressed one and all as he went on to score 445 runs in 10 innings in his debut IPL season. This included a sensational century as well. Bairstow has played 28 IPL games and has scored 1038 runs at an average and strike rate of 41.52 and 142.19 respectively. As a lot of the key players of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are overseas players, it seems highly unlikely that they can retain him for the IPL 2022 mega auction. This means that he will go into the IPL 2022 mega auction and has a chance to fetch a bigger price this time around. 6) Devon Conway Devon Conway. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that Conway might just be one of the most expensive buys of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Ever since he made his debut in 2020, he has barely put a foot wrong. He has scored 473 runs in the 11 T20I games he has played so far. He has a batting average and strike rate of 59.12 and 151.12 in the shortest format of the game. This isn’t just it as he has proven himself in the other two formats as well. The Kiwi batsman’s abilities force IPL franchises to go for him irrespective of him being in their plans or not. His performances often go unnoticed. However, his outstanding performances are finally getting the limelight and he is now rated really highly among the cricket pundits. While the Caribbean all-rounder has been superb in Tests and ODIs, T20s isn’t really his most preferred format. However, he has improved himself in the shortest format of the game as well and is now a regular in the West Indian T20I team. He is now a regular face in the IPL as well. After being announced as a replacement of Mitch Marsh in IPL 2020, he impressed one and all in that season. The former Windies skipper has taken 22 wickets in 19 IPL games so far. He has a bowling average and a strike rate of 25.86 and 18.56 respectively in the toughest T20 league in the world. 4) Suryakumar Yadav Suryakumar Yadav. He has emerged as one of India’s best T20 players in the last few years. His amazing performances in the past few IPL seasons forced the Indian selectors to pick him in the Indian team. The Mumbai batsman didn’t disappoint there too as he went on to score a 50 on his international debut. It would be safe to call him a “Complete Package”. He has been one of the best players for Mumbai Indians as well. He has scored over 1000 runs in the last three seasons. Most of those runs have come whenever the team’s star players have failed to make contributions. However, as he is now a capped player, MI might not be able to retain him as they might prefer the likes of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah. This might motivate other franchises to bid for him in the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction. 3) Lockie Ferguson Lockie Ferguson of KKR. His skills are what every T20 team needs. His stats speak for himself. In the 13 T20I games he has played so far, the Kiwi pacer has picked 24 wickets. His bowling average and strike rate in this format are 13.17 and 11.5 respectively. He has a fine economy rate of 6.87 as well. Although he has been playing the IPL since 2017, he hasn’t played too many games. This is because he was warming the bench for most of the time when he represented the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, various other teams would look at him as their front-line pacer and thus, will definitely spend a lot of bucks on him. 2) Jos Buttler Jos Buttler. It is safe to say that he is one of the best T20 players in the world right now. Buttler has been successful in international cricket as well as the IPL. England’s vice-captain in the shortest formats of the game has been synonymous with the Rajasthan Royals for a really long time. He has been their best batsman since 2018. The English wicketkeeper has scored 1968 runs in 64 IPL games. His batting average and strike rate are 35.14 and 150.0 respectively. His records as a batsman are better than most of the players of today’s day and age. Despite the limited opportunities in the biggest T20 league in the world, the Kiwi skipper has always performed well for SRH. The legendary New Zealander has scored 1747 runs in his IPL career. This includes his amazing performance in the 11th edition of the league where he scored 735 runs in the season. He has a career average and a strike rate of 41.6 and 134.18 respectively in the IPL. To add to all of this, he is a superb captain and has proved how good he is as a leader time and again. One of the most important factors in a mega auction is that franchises look to buy players who can lead a team. Thus, Williamson probably has the best chance to fetch a huge amount in the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction.
