IPL 2022: 5 Auction picks that are turning out to be blunders for teams
In the first 29 games of IPL 2022, all toss-winning captains have chosen to chase.
3. Vijay Shankar (GT)
Before joining GT, Vijay Shankar was part of the SRH family. The cricketer for Hyderabad used to bat in the middle-order. As the orange army had the likes of Manish Pandey at number three, Shankar played as a floater. However in IPL 2022, despite batting at his comfortable position, the bloke has severely failed.
Batting at number three for Gujarat, the 31-year-old has just scored 19 runs. In his four appearances so far, the all-rounder averages just 4.75. Somehow the individual has failed to even survive or rotate his strike at the crease. Maybe at INR 1.4 crore, the Titans could have signed a younger talent rather than Shankar’s dingy batting.
As GT also carries bleak options to replace him, Shankar’s breakdown will become a big clanger for the franchise. However, they would hope that soon Shankar will turn around his dreadful 2022 season.
