Newly-appointed Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja had a poor start to his captaincy stint, losing the first three matches of the season. The ace all-rounder has struggled to lead the team from the front.
In the match against Punjab Kings, Jadeja came out to bat at No. 4, when the Super Kings were struggling at 22/3. On the third ball of his innings, the southpaw dragged one to his stumps off Arshdeep Singh without troubling the scorers. With the ball in hand, Jadeja failed to contain runs in the middle overs. He gave away 34 runs with an economy of 8.50 and managed to pick up just one wicket of Liam Livingstone but by that time the damage was already done.
