To have someone like Darren Sammy in the dressing room is indeed a blessing, considering the amount of fun and experience he brings in. He is a two-time World T20 winning captain and knows how to deal with certain pressure cooker situations. Sammy, who is leading the Peshawar Zalmi side in the Pakistan Super League currently, is facing a situation where they have to win almost every game to progress through to the next stages.

Yet, the Caribbean all-rounder sounded optimistic that his side can turn things around and enter the playoffs. Zalmi currently stand 5th on the points table with 6 points in 7 games. They have three more games in hand to turn things around and would be hoping to pip one of the teams in the top 4 to enter the playoffs.

“We always have to believe that we can turn things around, that’s how I should think as a skipper. Injuries have hampered our progress this season. But I can’t give that as an excuse as the caliber in the dressing room is good enough to enter the playoffs and if not win the title,” Sammy said in an interview with Geo News.

I know Zalmi fans would be there to support us in Karachi

Last year, the PSL authorities and PCB managed to organise the final of the PSL in Lahore. It was difficult to bring back cricketing action to the country, but this time around, they have planned to host 3 games for the fans. The first playoff of this season will be played in Dubai and the other three knockout games will be played in Lahore and Karachi. Karachi is set to host the final.

When asked if his side can repeat the previous season’s heroics in Karachi, he said, “We have to take it one game at a time. Every game seems like a final to us right now. The key is to execute our plans and I believe we can do that.

“I’m proud to be a part of the unit that brought cricket back to Pakistan. Once we get to the final stages and head to Pakistan, I know all the Zalmi fans will be there to support us in Karachi,” Sammy concluded.
