In the first leg of the 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Multan Sultans were going nowhere. However, with wins in their last two matches, Mohammad Rizwan and Co, well and truly, are in the race for the playoffs.

In their previous game, they beat the Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets on Sunday. Skipper Rizwan scored a masterful 56-ball 82 to guide his team through to victory. Their next match is against the Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday, June 16 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Another win may even help them to reach the top four, displacing Karachi Kings, led by Imad Wasim. The Gladiators, on the other hand, have had their travails. They are languishing at the bottom of the points table.

Moreover, Andre Russell and Faf du Plessis, two of their valuable overseas recruits, are sitting out due to concussion. It would need a herculean task for them to roll over the Sultans.

Playing combination for MUL vs QUE

Mohammad Rizwan, without a doubt, has been the standout batter for the Sultans in the tournament. The skipper has notched 408 runs at an average and strike rate of 68 and 140.20 respectively. He has gotten the apt support from Sohaib Maqsood, who has 227 runs at 45.40.

The rest of the batters need to step up as well. Shahnawaz Dhani is their leading wicket-taker with 13 scalps and he also got the Player of the Match award for getting wickets against the Zalmi. Imran Tahir and Imran Khan have picked up four wickets each and have done a pretty reasonable task.
