Rajeev Shukla converses with Union Home Secretary for Chennai match to carry on

Amidst the massive celebrations and peaceful organization of the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), some dramatic and chaotic incidents took place in Chennai, during their first home game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were returning to their home fortress after a span of two years and the most of cricket-loving people in the city were equally excited to welcome their home franchise back in the IPL saga. However, during a distress happening, a case of shoe flinging at the M Chidambaram Stadium targeting the CSK players. IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla had a meeting with the Union Home Secretary Rajeev Gauba, regarding the organization of future IPL games in Chennai with proper security and without any hindrances. The state of Tamil Nadu has been at loggerheads with the neighboring state Karnataka. The key reason for the dispute is the sharing of the river water of the river Cauvery. The protesters in Tamil Nadu are unhappy with the way the central government has been favoring Karnataka on the issue. To support their cause, they had also earlier threatened to disrupt the home games of the Chennai Super Kings this season. I have discussed the matters with security officials: Shukla As per some reports, the toss for the CSK vs KKR game was also delayed as the officials were stuck outside the stadium in the whole chaotic incident. In a recent conversation, the chairman Shukla revealed that he has had a discussion with all the security officials regarding the happenings during the first CSK home game, yesterday. He also mentioned that proper instructions for strict security for the spectators and the players have been ordered by the director general of police. “Today I meet with the home security and discussed the security concerns with him. He spoke to the director general of police and given instructions for security to the spectators and players to avoid any untoward incident,” said Shukla in a conversation with ANI. The IPL chairman also hopes that all the home games of CSK franchise should be conducted at the Chepauk Stadium, in a celebratory fashion, and without any violent disturbances. He mentioned that the Tamil Nadu government has given the complete assurance about the security in upcoming matches in the city. “We are trying that those matches should take place in Chennai itself. There is no plan to move the matches to other states. Tamil Nadu government has assured that full-fledged security will be provided during the matches. If there will be an issue than the Tamil Nadu government will have to look for a plan B,” further added the IPL chairman.
