Suryakumar Yadav had initially started his IPL journey with the MI team in the 2011 edition of the IPL. The right-handed batter was easily fetched for a base price of INR 10 lakh and was part of the franchise till IPL 2013. In fact, the cricketer by merely playing a single game in 2012 had finally made his IPL debut in blue and gold. However, with the KKR team bagging Surya in the 2014 auction for a pleasant amount of INR 70 Lakh, the Mumbai batsman had extensively played for the purple army till the 2017 IPL.

Because of his flexible gameplay, SKY often used to juggle with his batting position in the middle-order which eventually had overall made him just average around 23 during his stint with the KKR. In fact later on, by playing as a mere floater neither Sky gained some fruitful success nor the KKR franchise then persisted with him after the 2017 edition.

While the KKR franchise didn’t bag him in the 2018 mega auction, the MI franchise had gone all in to bag their local boy for an impressive amount of INR 3.2 Crore. Further, with also casting Sky as a top-order batsman, the 27-year old has now been the team’s highest run-scorer since the IPL 2018. All in all, in a true sense, Surya has dwelled himself as a reliable 400-run bank along with emerging as a prominent match-winner in crucial games.

Overall, while the KKR team has extremely grappled with its top-order batting since IPL 2018, the MI franchise by extensively casting Suryakumar Yadav has gone on to build one of the best batting powerhouses of the IPL.
