The team with their base in the ‘pink city of Jaipur’ have not been in the pink of their form, since their tournament victory, way back in the first edition in 2008. After that, the Rajasthan Royals, have tried and tested all the possible combinations and experiments with their team, but have failed to form the team that could help them bring the cup back to Jaipur again.

The team that was already short on overseas bowling options, suffered another blow recently. Their leading pacer, Jofra Archer, who was looking promising, coming into the season, was ruled out of the tournament, due to a stress fracture. Though his chances of return are still awake, his participation remains a big question.

And, no team would want to go into the season, with doubts lingering upon their prime bowler, who would have been Smith’s go-to option in the death. While they have a number of bowlers, who could fill in for Archer, like Jaydev Unadkat, Varun Aaron and Ben Stokes, their spin bowling lacks the edge and options like a captain like Steve Smith wants.

If Rajasthan want to get past the league stage in this edition, they will have to get their best men on the field and hope for all of them to have good days throughout the tournament and win them matches regularly.
