Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Ravichandran Ashwin definitely must’ve wanted to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, not just because of the hometown allegiance, but also the presence of a certain MS Dhoni. Life did turn out to be kind as he was signed by the Super Kings in the inaugural season, but started making his mark from the 3rd season.

Ashwin soon was roped into the 2011 World Cup squad and he became the most important member of the Indian Test side. In the Indian Premier League, he was Dhoni’s most prolific wicket-taker in the middle overs and courtesy his exploits, they won the IPL twice in 2010 and 2011.

Ashwin parted ways with CSK in 2018 and was signed by Kings XI Punjab. After two seasons with them as the captain, he now will be joining Delhi Capitals in the 2020 edition. In 139 matches, Ashwin has picked up 125 wickets and is one of the most influential figures in CSK’s dominant history.
