Love knows no bounds is an adage that Australian cricketer Megan Schutt and her partner Jess Holyoake proved correct when they tied the knot in 2019, converting their long-term state of togetherness into a marital bond.

In a heart-warming bit of news, the cricketer also announced her pregnancy on Twitter on Sunday. She wrote, “Jess and I are excited to FINALLY be able to spill the beans Jess has the joy of carrying a mini me, lucky her baby girl already being smothered by the cat”, expecting the birth in early November this year.

The duo had married each other on March 31st, 2019, when Schutt took to Twitter to announce and confirm their wedding, calling it the “best day of my life”. “Best day of my life. My heart is so full. I am a lucky woman Mrs and Mrs Schutt,” she had written.

Megan and Jess’ story

The couple met at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. Describing their meeting, Megan reportedly said, “I saw a cute girl behind the desk and I was like ‘I’m going to woo her’. So, I started flirting with her and I kind of got a little back and I was like ‘Hang on here’ and the rest is history. She texted me after getting my number out of the CA system. Which I found rather funny at the time! I was so impressed by it because I was like, ‘No one really asks for a number anymore”.

A long-standing supporter for the cause of legalizing same-sex marriage, Schutt was a campaigner of the Australian Marriage Law postal survey, which eventually cleared her path to marry Jess. On the passing of the law, she announced her marriage on Twitter and shared how proud she was of being a part of a movement that changed and touched the lives of so many in the country.

Schutt was last in action during Australia Women’s tour of New Zealand that comprised three T20Is and as many ODIs. The 28-year-old pacer claimed three wickets in the T20I series, which was drawn 1-1, and followed that with 7 wickets in the ODI series that Australia won 3-0.
