Sanjay Manjrekar gets trolled for his opinion on the One Day format

The limited-overs series between India and Australia has been going on in full swing. After a victorious campaign in the T20 international series, the visitors lost the first ODI by six wickets. India, captained by Virat Kohli, have been renowned world beaters in the format. In the last two years, the Men in Blue have lost just one bilateral ODI series against England last year.

The No.2 ranked ODI team is also being deemed as favourites to win the 2019 World Cup. India’s performance in the 50-overs format has always been phenomenal. There have often been talks of the format declining to appeal to the audiences especially after the inception of T20 cricket. However, a crowd capacity of around 35,000 on Saturday had a different story to tell.

Sanjay Manjrekar has always managed to face the heat from the troll army. He was once blocked by his own daughter on Twitter and his unpopular opinions with regards to various topics have also come under the scanner. The commentator had another controversial idea with regards to the One Day Internationals during the India-Australia game in Hyderabad.

The former Indian cricketer felt that 50 overs were too long for an ODI game. He hinted that the One Day format would be better with 40 overs per side. However, this didn’t go well with the other cricket fans. In a short while, Sanjay had multiple responses in the form of trolls getting back at him for his opinion.

Right from trolling his commentary to displaying his low strike rate in the format, his replies were filled with critical comments all over. The 53-year-old has often been at the receiving end of all the jokes and yesterday was no different. The commentator wasn’t spared at all as Twitterati poked fun at his expense.
