Recently, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and young pacer Shaheen Afridi grabbed all the limelight in the cricket fraternity but for all the wrong reasons. The two players were up against each other in the 23rd match of the ongoing sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League as Ahmed’s franchise Quetta Gladiators locked horns with Afridi’s Lahore Qalandars.

The second-last over of the first innings saw Shaheen and Sarfaraz getting involved in a heated altercation. On the last delivery of the penultimate over, Shaheen bowled a bouncer to the former Pakistan skipper. The bouncer hit Sarfaraz on his helmet but since the ball went to the third man, the batsman managed to sneak a single.

However, Shaheen’s act of bowling a bouncer didn’t go well with Quetta Gladiators’ skipper as he said something to the pacer. Shaheen also replied and the two got into an argument related to the same. The entire situation cooled down only when the umpires intervened. Though no major action was taken for the misconduct on the field, the match referee issued a warning to both the players.

Sarfaraz Ahmed was and will always remain a captain for me: Shaheen Afridi

After the match, Shaheen reportedly revealed that the veteran told him to apologize for bowling a bouncer., However, the seamer refused to do so as there is nothing wrong with it as a bouncer is a legal delivery in cricket. However, after Shaheen received flak on social media for disrespecting the former Pakistan captain, the youngster took to his official Twitter handle to give an explanation.

“Saifi bhai is the pride of all of us. He was and will always remain a captain for me. Whatever happened in the game that day was the heat of the moment. I should have stayed quiet in respect of him. I have always respected my seniors and pray and wish the best for @SarfarazA_54 Bhai,” Shaheen Afridi tweeted.

After Shaheen’s tweet, everything seemed settled between the duo as Sarafraz acknowledged the tweet by the pacer and wished for his long and successful career. Retweeting the tweet by Afridi, Sarfaraz wrote, “It’s all good bro. Whatever happened in the field it should stay in the field. You are the star of Pakistan too. May Allah give you more success in life. You are a little brother to me. All is well “
