Former Australia leg-spinner Shane Warne is happy to see India taking part in a day-night Test eventually and now he wants Virat Kohli’s team to play a five-day game under the lights against Australia in Adelaide next year. India refused to play a day-night Test in Australia during their tour Down Under last year but things took a sharp turn after former captain Sourav Ganguly took over as the chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) last month. The ongoing pink-ball Test between India and Bangladesh is the first-ever to take place in the sub-continent.

Shane Warne, 50, congratulated Ganguly on Twitter after the latter shared pictures of Kolkata turning pink for the historic occasion. He also congratulated Kohli and hoped that they would agree to play a day-night Test in Adelaide when India tour Australia between November 2020 and January 2021.

Another former cricketer Michael Vaughan expressed his desire to see India taking on Australia under the lights while they tour Down Under. He also congratulated Ganguly before uttering his wish.

India have emerged as favourites to sweep the Test series against Bangladesh

Australia have played the most number of day-night Tests so far (five) and won all of them. Three of those matches were played in Adelaide, including the first-ever against New Zealand in 2015. The Baggy Greens will play their sixth day-night Test against Pakistan in Adelaide starting November 29. Next month, they will play the Kiwis in another day-night Test in Perth.

Meanwhile, India demolished Bangladesh in their first innings by skittling them out for just 106 in 30.3 overs. The pace troika took 10 wickets and India were in the driver’s seat by putting up 289 for 4 at the end of the 1st session on Day 2. Kohli scored yet another century and Ajinkya Rahane his fourth consecutive 50-plus score as India built up a staggering lead over Bangladesh.

Kohli registered his 27th Test century and drew level with Ricky Ponting for most international centuries as captain. India have emerged as favourites to sweep the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
