Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar visited India U-19 women's skipper Shafali Verma's residence after the cricketer led the U-19 team to an emphatic victory in the Women's U19 T20 World Cup in South Africa. The U-19 Indian women's team created history by winning the inaugural edition of the tournament by defeating England by seven wickets in the final as Shafali Verma and co. became the first women's team from India to win an ICC trophy.

Meanwhile, CM Khattar paid a visit to Shafali's residence in Haryana and congratulated the youngster's father and grandfather by exchanging sweets and pleasantries. In his brief visit, he stated that Shafali has brought a lot of honour to the country at a very tender age and she would only rise from here. The CM also took to Twitter to congratulate the Indian team after their brilliant performance.

Here is the post:

Talking about the match, Shafali and Co. were once again outstanding in each department of the game. The most striking feature of their campaign was their bowling and fielding and the girls gave a glimpse of their brilliance in the final as well, as they bundled out England for a paltry 68, with Titas Sadhu, Archana Devi, and Parshavi Chopra taking two wickets each.

Chasing only 69, the team finished the game in just 14 overs courtesy of Gongadi Trisha’s 24-run knock as well as Soumya Tiwari’s unbeaten 24. Speaking about skipper Shafali, she could score only 15 off 11 in the final. However, the explosive right-handed opener amassed 172 runs throughout the tournament, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer behind compatriot Shweta Sehrawat and England’s Grace Scrivens.
