IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba touches his feet after CSK's record-equaling fifth title win

The Indian Premier League 2023 came to a fitting end as Chennai Super Kings were crowned champions after beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final on Tuesday, May 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The all rounder Ravindra Jadeja turned out to be the knight in shining armour for CSK with his splendid cameo of 15* off 6 balls.

With ten runs needed to win off the last two balls, the southpaw smacked a six followed by a four to help his side register a thrilling win. Following his heroics with the bat, Jadeja shared a heartwarming moment with his family as his wife Rivaba Jadeja touched his feet as per the tradition, and hugged him in elation along with his daughter Nidhyana Jadeja.

Notably, Jadeja had a terrific season as he was the second-highest wicket-taker for CSK with 20 wickets to his name from 16 matches at an average of 21.55 and an economy of 7.56. With the bat, he played handy cameos throughout the tournament and scored 133 runs from 12 innings at an average of 23.75 and a strike rate of 142.85.

The 34-year-old also won the Player of the Match award thrice during the tournament, one each against Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.

Coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first, GT posted a massive score of 214/4 in their allotted 20 overs riding on a sensational innings from 21-year-old Sai Sudharsan (96 off 47). In reply, good knocks from Devon Conway (47 off 25), Shivam Dube (32* off 21), Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 13) and Ambati Rayudu (19 off 8), followed by Jadeja's finishing skills helped CSK chase down the revised target (171 in 15 overs) on the last ball of the match.

Following their thrilling win, CSK clinched their fifth IPL title in their history and levelled their tally with Mumbai Indians in terms of most IPL trophies won.
