Chennai Super Kings made it to their tenth IPL final after they pipped reigning champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 at the Cheapauk. Their victory came on the back of a decisive batting performance from star Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is focused on going all the way in this year's tournament.

The CSK opener registered a breezy 60 off 44 deliveries, while most of the other batters struggled on a sluggish surface in Chennai. Following his side's commanding victory, Gaikwad expressed his delight in making it to the final this term after last year's disappointing campaign.

"The feeling is good without a doubt, I would say. With how the last season went for us, I think to be able to make such a strong comeback, I think it is commendable. Feeling really happy, but still one step to go.

"We all wanted to come back to Chennai and play the Qualifier. Good challenge against a really good team. The champion team of last year, so I think to be able to get one step ahead of them in a crucial game. I think it's a really good effort and makes it even more special when it's at home," Gaikwad said in a video uploaded by Chennai Super Kings.

Getting to play Qualifier 1 at home is a special feeling: Gaikwad

The stylish opener gave an insight into the match, saying Hardik Pandya's side were under pressure from the get-go, thanks to the incredible support for the home side in Chennai. He felt that the slow nature of the pitch also aided the four-time champions, helping them seal their first-ever victory against Gujarat Titans in IPL.

"They must have felt little bit pressure on a slow pitch and with yellow everywhere, with not a single supporter for them in the stands, so obviously, all things were lined up for us. As I said, great feeling to play in Chepauk. Getting to play Qualifier 1 at home is a special feeling," Gaikwad concluded.
