South Africa board to limit player's time in the IPL

With Cricket South Africa and their revolutionary domestic T20 League, the board headed by Haroon Lorgat has stated that the players need to make their way back to the country for international duty. A recent report form a few credible sources imply that the players have been asked to return on the eighth of May. The sources also reveal that this information has been made public to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well.

While the Indian-based cricket board will certainly takes this under consideration, the Proteas based board will be hoping that a few Indian players can certainly be released to take part in the new T20 competition that is expected to take place. Tony Irish, the member of the SACA stated that the players are certainly expected to come back early. “We’re aware that they will have to come back early. I can’t say when,” Tony Irish of SACA said.

Traditionally, the South African players have been some of the best players in the Indian Premier League for seasons together. However, despite all of this, the Proteas players have also been the top-earners as well with the likes of JP Duminy, Albie and Morne Morkel, and even Jacques Kallis being the ones who have made their mark on the Indian Premier League in previous seasons.

The 2009 edition of the IPL was also something that was played in South Africa, something that was a mega hit and also laid the foundations for the Ram Slam T20 tournament as well. However, this new T20 series has to be constituted given the fact that the Ram Slam has been one that has been embroiled in scandals and spot-fixing as well.
