Stats: Bowlers who have taken four or more wickets on two occasions in Champions Trophy

The 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy is round the corner and the preparations for the mega event has already started. Considering the last few games played in the English conditions, high scoring games are being expected to roll out for the fans. Hence, the role of the bowlers would increase manifold. Traditionally, the tournament has always been dominated by the batsmen.

In the history of the Champions Trophy, only 6 bowlers have taken four or more wickets on two occasions. Zimbabwean pacer Douglas Hondo was the first bowler to do so when he bagged two four-wicket hauls in the 2002 edition of the tournament.  Hondo had scalped 4/62 in the match against India at Colombo. At the very same venue, he bagged 4/45 against England 4 days later.

New Zealand speedster Mitch McClenaghan is another pacer who bagged two four-wicket hauls in the same edition of the tournament. McClenaghan’s effort had come in the 2013 edition of the tournament. No other bowler in the history of the Champions Trophy has taken two four-wicket hauls in a single edition of the tournament.

Another Kiwi bowler, Kyle Mills, had taken his first four-wicket haul in the tournament back in 2006 edition. He had returned with figures of 4/38 against Australia at Mohali. 7 years later, he bagged 4/30 against England at Cardiff in the 2013 edition of the tournament.
