Pakistan recently managed to clean sweep Australia in the three-match T20I series. The second match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium turned out to be a closely-fought one, but the first and final encounters panned out to be completely one-sided as Sarfraz Ahmed and Co didn’t allow their opponents a sniff of a chance to get a foothold into the contests.

Apart from batting and bowling, Pakistan were also stupendous in the outfield. They inflicted five run-outs in the matches. In the second contest, Fakhar Zaman inflicted a jaw-dropping run out of Ben McDermott and send him packing for a duck. The surprising element of the dismissal was that he wasn’t even looking at the stumps at the time of throwing the wickets down.

Pakistan sitting at the top

After the match, the Pakistani skipper went on to heap praises on Zaman for his stupendous display in the outfield. Later, he also drew his comparison with the legendary South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes. Recently, Pakistan also entered the record books as they currently have the best run-out per match record in the T20I format in the last couple of years.

In the last 26 matches, Pakistan have churned out 22 run outs at a rate of 0.84. In Pakistan, the selection criterion of the yo-yo test is 17.4 and their improvement in fielding standards have well and truly been palpable. The likes of Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Babar Azam also pulled off run outs. Sri Lanka are second on the list with 0.70 courtesy of 16 in 23 encounters.

Australia are fifth on the list with nine-run outs from 20 matches and numbers of 0.45. India, who have put significant emphasis on fielding for quite a few years, are eighth on the table with only nine run-outs in the last 26 matches. Zimbabwe are the only team, who are yet to make a run-out in the last two years.
