Pakistan didn’t have a great time in the Asia Cup but came back to beat Australia in the Test series followed by the T20I series. Two matches in the 20-overs format have already been played and the Men in Green have been clinical, to say the least. In the meantime, Sarfraz Ahmed, the Pakistani captain, have compared left-hander Fakhar Zaman with Jonty Rhodes.

The southpaw has had some pretty lacklustre outings in the last few weeks, but he has somehow been able to make amends. After making his Test debut in the second match, he is currently playing the white-ball fixtures. The North-West Frontier Province-born player has only been able to score 25 runs, however, he has simply been outstanding in the outfield.

Sarfraz at the receiving end

He gave a glimpse of his stupendous fielding abilities in the second T20I at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He took a couple of good catches to send Aaron Finch and Alex Carey packing. Nevertheless, he grabbed eyeballs with his run-out of Ben McDermott. In the penultimate delivery of the 14th over by Shaheen Shah Afridi, the 28-year-old pulled off the blinder.

He leaped on to his right, got hold of the leather and threw down the stumps at the bowler’s end and he made the same look pretty effortless, which wasn’t the case. The more astonishing fact was that the fielder wasn’t even looking at the stumps. Following the jaw-dropping dismissal of the Aussie, Sarfraz Ahmed rushed to the opening batsman in order to give him a hug.

The magnificent exhibition of fielding couldn’t stop the captain from heaping praises on Zaman and he went on to draw his parallels with the legendary Proteas cricketer, who had redefined the concept of outfielding in his playing days. In the meantime, Twitter found Sarfraz’s comments hilarious and they trolled him left right and centre.
