If there is a player who consistently contributed with the bat in Bangladesh’s victories over the top nations, it has to be Tamim Iqbal. The left-handed batsman has made a habit of giving Bangladesh good starts ever since the 2007 Cricket World Cup. His consistency in all the three formats gradually improved as he ranks among the top openers of the game for his numbers in the last couple of years. This Bangladeshi star entered the International stage at 18 years and already served over 11 years.

On the occasion of Tamim Iqbal’s 29th birthday, we look at his achievements in International cricket:

3 – Tamim Iqbal is the only player from Bangladesh to score a century in all the three formats. He is also one of the three players to score a T20I century, 150 in an ODI and double century in Test cricket. Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum are the other two players with the feat.


19y 100d – At the age of 19 years and 100 days, Tamim Iqbal was the 3rd youngest player after Shahid Afridi (17y 215d) and Sachin Tendulkar (18y 318d) to complete 1000 runs in the ODI format.


20y 358d – Tamim was the 3rd youngest to complete 1000 Test runs after Sachin Tendulkar (19y 217d) and Mohammad Ashraful (20y 165d).


94 – His 94-ball hundred against England in the 2010 Lord’s Test is the fastest century in Test cricket for Bangladesh.


103* – Tamim’s unbeaten 103 against Oman in the WT20 2016 is the only century recorded for Bangladesh in the T20I format.


154 – Tamim Iqbal scored 154 against Zimbabwe in the 2009 Bulawayo ODI which is the Bangladesh highest individual ODI score and also the only 150+ score recorded in this format so far.


206 – His highest individual score in Test cricket of 206 came against Pakistan in the 2015 Khulna Test. It was the highest individual Test score at the time and only the 2nd Test double ton for Bangladesh.


1385 – The left-handed batsman scored total to 1385 runs in the T20I format which are the most by any player for Bangladesh.


2557 – Tamim scored 2557 runs in the 76 ODI games he played at the Mirpur’s Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. He holds the record for scoring the most number of runs at a venue in ODI cricket.


3938 – Tamim Iqbal’s 3938 runs at Mirpur, Dhaka in International cricket are the most for any player at a venue.


3985 – His 3985 runs in Test cricket are the most for Bangladesh. He also scored the most number of centuries (8) and most fifties (25) for Bangladesh in this format.


6018 – Tamim is the only player to score 6000 runs in ODI cricket for Bangladesh. He scored nine hundreds and 41 fifties in this format which are also the most by any player for Bangladesh.


11388 – Tamim Iqbal was the first Bangladesh player to score 10000 runs in International cricket. His 11388 runs across all formats are the most by any player for Bangladesh.
