Chris Woakes’ inclusion ahead of Jofra Archer might surprise a few of you, but it really shouldn’t given his performances over the last few years. The Englishman has been the leader of the attack for quite some time now. He is very effective with the new ball and his death bowling has also improved in recent times.

Woakes has picked up 149 wickets in 104 matches at a strike rate of 32.8 and has a pretty good economy rate of 5.54. The all-rounder is England’s 6th highest wicket taker at present and by the time he retires, he could have potentially broken into the top 3.

The 31-year-old is ranked 5th in the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers and 3rd in the rankings for all-rounders, showing how good he is. Woakes is arguably one of the most underrated cricketers at present and one can only hope that his efforts are given more recognition.
