2. Shoaib Malik and Ahmed Shehzad

Shoaib Malik is one of the most experienced cricketers in the Pakistani T20I team at the moment and earlier in the year during the second game of the Independence Cup which was organised in Pakistan. Between the home team and the World XI, the veteran right-hander became the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in the shortest format of the game.

However more than his achievement in the match, what Malik was more impressed by was the fact that the spectators turned up in huge numbers to watch that match. As an international game was held in the country after a long time, it was important for the Pakistani public to well and truly register their attendance on the occasion and send a message to the cricketing world how passionate they are about the game and they did that perfectly which delighted Malik. So the all-rounder put up a tweet thanking the Lahore crowd terming the city “great” in Punjabi.

The young Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad quoted Malik’s tweet and posted that while Lahore is indeed a great city, Malik himself is also great as the record that he achieved during the game was outstanding. Malik, in response, thanked Shehzad for his appreciation and then took a dig at him saying that he should also give him an opportunity to call him a “great player” at some stage. That would surely have left Shehzad embarrassed.

Here is the conversation:
