In what was the second T20 international at Guwahati and the first at the Barsapara Stadium, Australia managed to produce a sensational victory as they finally gave the Indians a run for their money. It was a rare failure for the Indian batting as the Australians bowlers made no mistakes. At the end, the target was too less for the bowlers to make any fight out of it.

Earlier in the day, it was skipper David Warner who won the toss as Australia elected to field first. They drafted Jason Behrendorff into their playing XI. As for India, they had an unchanged team from the last game. Batting first, India suffered a major jolt as both Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli were dismissed in the first over by Behrendorff. The wickets continued to fall as Shikhar Dhawan got out attempting a big shot as skipper Warner took an outstanding catch as India were left reeling at 27/4.

MS Dhoni ended up getting stumped against Adam Zampa while attempting to jump down the wicket for a big shot. Kedhar Jadhav who was looking good for a while didn’t last long as India were reduced to 70/7. While Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav both couldn’t do much, they made sure the Indians posted a total of respectability as and crossed the 100 run mark. The hosts continued to lose wickets in a heap throughout the innings as they got bundled for 118.

Australian bowlers cashed in on the early wickets and applied pressure on all fronts. Behrendorff was the pick amongst the bowlers with four wickets. Adam Zampa was also splendid as he got a couple of wickets along with being economic. Nathan Coulter-Nile, Andrew Tye and Marcus Stoinis also managed to get a wicket each.

The visitors weren’t off to a great start as skipper Warner misconnected one from Jasprit Bumrah. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had Aaron Finch’s wicket in the very next over as Australia were reduced to 13/2. For a moment, it seemed India had a chance of turning tables.

However, some wonderful batting by Moises Henriques and Travis Head sealed the deal for the Australians. While Henriques scored a spectacular 62 runs not out from 46 balls with 4 boundaries and 4 sixes, Head too batted splendidly for his 48 (34)*. Australia went on to win the game by 8 wickets with more than 4 overs to spare.

Twitter kept everyone entertained throughout the game. For a change, it was Australia who dominated the play while India were the ones who bore the brunt. There were moments in the game when it seemed the hosts had a chance but Australia ended up squaring the series 1-1.

Here we present some of the amazing Twitter reactions that floated around during the course of the game:
