IND vs AUS, 3rd ODI: Best memes from the game
Australia won the third ODI against India by 21 runs as they clinched the series 1-2.
The third and final ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia finally came to a close. After India won the first game of the series, the visitors made a resilient comeback to clinch the second match, thereby pushing the series to a final showdown between both sides.
As the third and final ODI got underway, Travis Head and Mitchell March once again set the Aussies up for a good start, scoring 33 and 47 runs, respectively. The Men in Blue got a huge breakthrough further into the game as skipper Steven Smith was dismissed for a duck.
However, through resilient knocks by the entirety of Australia’s middle-order, the Men in Yellow managed to notch up 269 runs on the board and set up a relatively low-scoring run chase for team India.
The hosts got off to a good start as well after skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored 30 and 37 runs, respectively, to set up India for a comfortable chase. After the first wicket, ace batter Virat Kohli showed just why he is revered as one of the best batters in the world. The 34-year-old scored 54 runs under pressure to further worsen things for Australia.
However, the spin attack of Australia proved to be too much to handle for India. Ashton Agar dismissed Kohli and struck again as he sent Suryakumar Yadav back to the pavilion for a golden duck once again.
Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya contributed to the score with a decent partnership, but they too crumbled under pressure. Adam Zampa, in particular, was exceptional, as he took four wickets and conceded 45 runs in 10 overs.
In the end, the resilience of the Indian batters was not enough, as Australia won the game by 21 runs and clinched the ODI series by 1-2.
