On Thursday, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clashed against each other in Match 58 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. PBKS skipper Sam Curran won the toss and chose to bowl against RCB. Royal Challengers Bengaluru win a big one by beating PBKS by 60 runs. 

This match was a must-win for both teams as the losing team would be eliminated from the tournament and unfortunately, it was the Punjab Kings. RCB players showed a class performance in the must-win game against PBKS. Virat Kohli's stunning batting performance in the first innings pulled off well for RCB to put up a target of 241 runs for PBKS.

1. Virat Kohli's king-like performance

Virat Kohli has performed like a true sportsman in this season of the Indian Premier League. In the match against Punjab Kings, Kohli pulled off a great show for the spectators at Dharamsala. He scored 92 runs off 42 balls, unfortunately, he fell short of 8 runs from scoring his second century of this season. He has scored 634 runs in 12 matches with a strike rate of 153.51 and continues to keep the Orange Cap in IPL 2024. To support Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green scored 55 off 23 balls and 46 runs off 27 balls respectively. Virat Kohli also won the 18th Player of the Match award in IPL history. 


2.  RCB bowlers strike against PBKS

The way Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Roussow started off to chase the score against RCB, it seemed like they were going to beat RCB. But, the RCB bowlers struck and dismissed both the openers followed by the next in their batting line-up. Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma, Swapnil Singh and Lockie Ferguson restricted Punjab Kings' batters to 181 runs. They dismissed PBKS in just 17 overs and RCB won by 60 runs in a must-win match for both teams. After the loss against RCB, PBKS have been eliminated from the playoffs race.
