Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, April 25. RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis, won the toss and opted to bat first.

RCB got off to a solid start with du Plessis and Virat Kohli pairing up to add 48 runs before T Natarajan dismissed the skipper for 25 in the fourth over. Kohli, on the other hand, continued to showcase his power-hitting. While the former RCB captain displayed his power-hitting prowess, his momentum slowed down as the innings progressed. Notably, his innings ended at 51 runs off 43 deliveries, at a modest strike rate of 118.60.

Following the dismissal of the visiting skipper in the fourth over, Pat Cummins brought Mayank Markande into the attack, a move that turned out beneficial as he claimed the wicket of Will Jacks, who managed just six runs. Rajat Patidar then unleashed a breathtaking assault on the leggie during his third over, hammering 27 runs off it. Notably, he formed a 50-run stand with Virat Kohli, while also reaching his fifty in a mere 19 deliveries.

Jaydev Unadkat then provided a major breakthrough for SRH, removing Patidar on the very next ball after he reached his half-century. Kohli, on the other hand, scored a fifty off 37 balls but fell to Unadkat's delivery in the 15th over while playing a powerless shot. The left-arm medium bowler, who was playing in his 100th IPL match, secured his third wicket of the night by dismissing Mahipal Lomror. In addition, despite losing wickets at regular intervals, RCB managed to post a total of 206 in their allotted 20 overs.
