Twitter Reactions: Martin Guptill unleashes class to strengthen New Zealand's case for semi-final
New Zealand bowlers also were on point with their actions today.
Match no. 32 of the T20 World Cup 2021 saw New Zealand and Scotland rubbing shoulders with each other at Dubai International Stadium. Scotland were already out of the race for the semi-final, Kiwis tried their best to strengthen their chance of making it to the next round and did so rightfully by winning the clash by 16 runs. Winning the toss, Kyle Coetzer decided to move up for bowling first.
As soon as Kane Williamson’s army started batting, things looked a little dim for them when their two men got down on 35 runs. Scotland remained quite successful in getting early breakthroughs. While Daryl Mitchell turned his back after collecting 13 runs, Williamson had to go back without opening his bat owing to the heroics by Safyaan Sharif. He brought two early breakthroughs for his team and conceded at an impressive 7.0.
However, after losing their third wicket, New Zealand batters accelerated their innings in full form and posted a fine target of 172 runs on the board. Veteran Martin Guptill unleashed his sheer class and remained on the crease till the very end. His classy knock of 93 off 56 became instrumental in NZ clicking 170s.
Here is how Twitter reacted to New Zealand’s victory against Scotland
Good for India – the margin of win for New Zealand is reducing.

Had Michael Leask batted up the order, Scotland seriously could've turned the results. What a superb knock.

New Zeland failed to improve their run rate again #scotland. If #Afghanistan defeats them they will have higher chance #NZvSCO

Glenn Phillips scored 33 runs towards the end and helped Guptill’s cause of taking NZ’s score to a fine mark. Mark Watt picked one wicket for Scotland and remained in the limelight while conceding at an impressive 3.20.
New Zealand bowlers shine on the day
Talking of the chase, Scotland knew the target was huge and a big inning from one of their batters was needed but that didn’t come up and that started to add on the pressure. 20 odd runs of Munsey, Matthew Cross, and Richie Berrington were of no use but Michael Leask’s 40 off 22 did give some hope to Scotland but he found no support from the other end.
New Zealand’s unit of star bowlers again appeared perfect in their action where Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi picked two wickets each for New Zealand while Santner also bowled well.
