Twitter Reactions: Marlon Samuels 92 empowers WI to their first victory over Aussies in 4 years
West Indies went on to produce their first victory over Australia in 4 years. It was a brilliant all-round performance from the Caribbean team. Winning the toss, Captain Holder elected to field first. While Australia had Head and Coulter-Nile in their playing XI, West Indies had an unchanged team from their last game.
Batting first, Australia lost Finch early before Khawaja and Smith together built a brilliant 170 runs partnership for the second wicket. While Khawaja fell short of a century with a well made 98, Smith also scored a sensational 71. However once they got out, Australia struggled to accelerate and kept losing wickets.
In the end, they were restricted to 265/7 in their quota of 50 overs. The West Indies bowled exceptionally well and applied the brakes to the Australian innings. Holder, Brathwaite, and Pollard got a couple of wickets each.
On the other hand, West Indies had an explosive start with Charles smashing 48(38). Samuels then went on to pile up a magnificent 92 runs from 87 deliveries which included a hat-trick of sixes. He was supported well by Bravo and later Ramdin.

In the end, West Indies outplayed Australia completely as they won the game by 4 wickets with 26 balls to spare. Samuels was announced the man of the match for his match-winning knock.
Twitter was at it’s splendid best as the underdogs went on to script a win over the mighty Australians. Right from lauding Smith and Khawaja to trolling the decision of resting Starc, right from lauding Samuels to trolling the umpiring decisions, here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game

Despite being disappointed that the West Indies beat our boys this morning, it's great to see West Indies cricket doing so well #AUSvWI

Pretty ordinary effort by @CricketAus losing to the Windies, Player resting/rotations are killing the team #AUSvWI

Windies bossed that game by reaching or clearing the short boundary at Warner Park: 32 v 21 on the 4/6 count #WIvAUS

Five matches no team has scored 300 in the tri series. Even contest between bat and ball just what ODI Cricket needs. #AUSvWI

If you can't trust an Australian keeper confidently claiming your wicket, who can you trust? #WIvAUS

WI trying to win this in 20 overs. Great strategy. Confront your enemy in the form of the game in which you're world champions, not theirs.
