The Indian skipper Virat Kohli slammed his 19th Test century in the ongoing second Test match against Sri Lanka. This was also his second consecutive century of the series as the last one came in Kolkata in the second innings. Moreover, he scored runs with utter ease after the marathon partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay was broken. He just took off from where he left at Eden Gardens. However, Twitterati was as usual loved his knock and is hoping for more on a super Sunday.

Pujara and Kohli strode out to the middle on the third morning of the Test match and never looked in any sorts of trouble. While the former was watchful early on, his captain just carried on sumptuously unflustered. He was on 54 when the umpires called stumps on day 2 and soon got off the straps in the morning. The heartening thing was with the ease he made his runs since coming out to bat late in the third session on Saturday.

He upped the run-rate as well which was hovering around 2.5 until Pujara and Vijay were batting. He ran well between the wickets and also hit some crisp boundaries off loose deliveries presented by the bowlers. Sri Lanka literally had no answers to the onslaught from him and the other batsmen and another long day awaits them under the sun. Just after the drinks break on the third day, Virat Kohli brought up his another Test century just like a walk in the park and this time there was no roar and fierce celebrations like the last one.

India piling on the runs

The duo of Kohli and Pujara continued piling on the agony on the Sri Lankans after the play was resumed in the morning. The visitors just looked resigned to their fate as the shoulders were already dropped. Just before the lunch, the new wall of India, Pujara lost his defence to Dasun Shanka for 143 runs. The scoreboard read 404/3 at lunch and Kohli looking fluent on 123. Indian batsmen would love to bat all day as there is a lot of time remaining in the match and bat the opposition out of the game.

Twitterati poured in their wishes to congratulate Virat Kohli after his 51st International century.

Here’s how they erupted:
