Things took a drastic turn in the controversy involving Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on Thursday when the Committee of Administrators (CoA) that runs the BCCI revoked the suspension on the duo. Pandya was set to join the Indian team in New Zealand now while KL Rahul will be playing for India ‘A’ against England Lions in the five limited-over games in Thiruvananthapuram and is likely to go to New Zealand for the T20I series after the ODIs.

Hell broke loose after the two national cricketers appeared on ‘Koffee With Karan’, a popular TV show anchored by ace filmmaker Karan Johar and made remarks that were not allegedly not in good taste. Of the two, Pandya was found to be using the occasion to a poorer use and it instantly led to a massive outrage.

The CoA intervened and the two players were suspended and sent back home mid-way from the tour of Australia. Pandya was set to make a return to international cricket with the Australia ODIs but he missed them as well as the first game in New Zealand. The delay in appointing an ombudsman by the Supreme Court worsened things further.

Pandya’s suspension worried the team as he is a vital part of India’s plan for the World Cup due in May-July and his absence said to have affected the team’s balance. Though the lift of bans would give Virat Kohli and his side a relief, not many fans were impressed with the outcome of the episode. The BCCI was criticised for taking a lenient stand on the matter.

Some even asked whether the BCCI bowed under pressure from Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians for whom Pandya plays.

Here is how Twitterati reacted to BCCI’s decision to lift off the suspension imposed on Pandya and Rahul:
