India are well and truly in the driver’s seat as far the opening Test between Australia and India is concerned. They are leading by a significant 166 runs with seven wickets remaining in the second innings. The encounter at Adelaide Oval has already been a witness to a controversy when Indian captain Virat Kohli celebrated after Ishant Sharma nipped out Aaron Finch.

Ishant rattled Finch’s woodwork after which Virat showed his aggressive approach. The same didn’t go down with Aussie head coach Justin Langer. The former cricketer mentioned that had one of Australia’s players done so, then it would’ve been a shambolic act. He also related the incident with the ball-tampering scandal at Newlands in Cape Town earlier in March.

Virat shows his humble side

However, Virat got support from the likes of Ajit Agarkar. In the meantime, the 30-year-old has also been a part of a heartwarming moment. In the third ball of the 34th over, he hit a ball off Nathan Lyon that smacked Aaron Finch, who was standing at short-leg, on the throat after which he screeched his pain. Skipper Tim Paine rushed towards Finch in order to ask for his well-being.

Finch was wearing a helmet, but it hit his neck. Lyon was ready to bowl the next ball and Kohli backed off suddenly. He left the crease and went straight towards Finch. The light-hearted moment was like a breath of fresh air amidst some competitive cricket. Luckily, Finch was up on his feet and play resumed soon after. As far as cricket is concerned, Kohli didn’t have the best of days.

He tried to put his head down and scored 34 runs from 104 balls with the help of three boundaries. It eventually was Lyon, who accounted for his wicket, caught by Aaron Finch himself. Nevertheless, Virat would be happy with his team’s performance.
