Aaron Finch had an impressive Test debut against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He has been playing limited-overs cricket for the last few years and brought all his experience into play against the home team. After an impressive performance, he was included in the squad for the ongoing Test series against India. The first Test is currently taking place at Adelaide Oval.

However, the experienced campaigner hasn’t had a decent outing in the encounter. In the first innings, he couldn’t handle an in-swinger from fast bowler Ishant Sharma and perished in the very first over. He went back for a three-ball duck as his stumps went for a toss. In the second innings, he would be in with the responsibility of chasing whatever target India set for the Aussies.

Finch and Paine’s camaraderie

When India batted, Finch was placed at short-leg, a fielding position where fielders get hit most of the times. In the third ball of the 33rd over, Indian captain Virat Kohli clipped a ball from off-spinner Nathan Lyon which bounced straight into the throat of Finch. Nevertheless, the fielder was wearing a helmet and hence didn’t seem too much concerned with the nasty blow.

In the meantime, Aussie captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Paine took a hilarious dig at his teammate. He, funnily, asked him for a dart- a cigarette. He said, “Do you want a dart?”. But Finch reverted even more entertainingly, saying “Nah haven’t had one in six months!” The funny conversation was mentioned in a tweet from presenter Daniel Brettig.

As per the current state of the match, India are expected to set a massive score in front of the home team and Finch would be a key component in the run-chase. Moreover, after a lacklustre T20I series against the Men in Blue, Finch would be hoping to make amends in the next innings.
