Virender Sehwag wants an all Indian support staff for Kings XI Punjab

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag likes to be quick on his feet. This was evident during his playing days when he took very little time to settle at the crease. What followed was absolute carnage and Sehwag often yielded fruitful results for his side. Now, the former cricketer has been appointed as the Head of Cricketing Operations and Strategy for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. Soon after his appointment, Sehwag has come in action. As per the reports in wahcricket.com, he wants an all Indian look in the team management and support staff. As per the reports, J Arun Kumar and Mithun Manhas are tipped to take the lead roles for the franchise in the upcoming season. Kumar is being tipped as the forerunner for the new head coach of KXIP. He has been a prolific coach in the domestic circuit. It has been under his guidance that Karnataka team has become a juggernaut in Indian domestic circuit. He coached the Karnataka team to a plethora of major titles. Under his guidance, the team attained the triple distinction of winning Ranji Trophy, One-Day domestic fixture and T20 domestic in the same season. He has also guided the team to Irani Trophy titles as well. During the initial years of the IPL, he was associated with the Royal Challengers Bangalore as well. As per the quotes in wahcricket.com, Arun Kumar confirmed that he is in talks with Virender Sehwag for the top role. “Yes, me and Viru are talking and it will be a great opportunity for me to be associated with KXIP but there’s nothing more to this at the moment. I was told that the franchise will get back and that’s where it is at the moment. I do hope to get a contract with them but nothing is finalized right now,” he quoted. Manhas has previously played in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Dare Devils, and Pune Warriors. Incidentally, Manhas and Virender Sehwag were team mates in the Delhi team. Manhas is presently the player-coach of Jammu and Kashmir team.
