The IPL player’s auction for the 2014 season 7 of the cash-rich Indian Domestic T20 League is underway at Bangalore. The teams already had their core retained only Delhi Daredevils being the exception as they did not retain a single player. The auction this year has a few changes in its pattern with the team which originally held the player get the right to buy him at the highest bid price. The other changes are as under: For the very first time, the players in the auction will be valued in Indian rupees instead of the US dollar which was the biding currency in the first six seasons. This will be the first time in the history of IPL that, even uncapped Indian players will be auctioned. Among the 219 capped players, 46 Indian players have been valued at top base price of Rs 2crore. A total of 514 players will be bid for. The list features 219 capped players (169 Indians and 50 overseas players) and 292 uncapped players (255 Indians and 37 from overseas). Player retentions and budget breakdown: Every franchise has a total budget of Rs. 60crores to pick their squads from. Player retention: – Rs. 12.5crore for the first player. – Rs. 9.5crore for the second player. – Rs. 7.5crore for the third player. – Rs. 5.5crore for the fourth player. – Rs. 4crore for the fifth player. The first auction day: The first day of the auction saw a few surprises among the bidder’s players who were considered to go hot among the franchises went cheap or even unsold. The owners were in with the list of players they wanted to have in their lot at any cost. The top few buys were Yuvraj Singh who was picked by RCB for a whooping 14Cr, Dinesh Karthik picked up a good contract of 12.5Cr from the DD.
