India came back strongly to level the 3-match T20I series 1-1. After Zimbabwe elected to bat, debutant Barinder Sran ripped through the hosts batting lineup as he picked up 4 wickets in the first 3 overs of his spell. Zimbabwe never came back into the game as they finished with just 99/9 in their 20 overs. Indian openers Mandeep Singh and KL Rahul ensured India win by 10-wickets with Mandeep scoring his maiden fifty. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

1 – For the first time India won a T20I by a 10 wickets margin. This is the 3rd time a team defeated Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in this format.

2 – Only the 2nd time both the Indian openers didn’t get out in a T20I. The other instance was in 2012 at Johannesburg vs South Africa in a rain effected game.

3 – Wickets taken by Barinder Sran in his 3rd over. This is only the 2nd instance an Indian took 3 wickets in an over in T20Is. Ashok Dinda took 3 wickets in a T20I vs Sri Lanka in 2012 at Pallekele.

4 – Wickets taken by Barinder Sran in this game. He became only the 2nd Indian to take 4 wickets on T20I debut. Overall, he is only the 5th pacer and the first left-handed pacer to pick 4-wicket haul on T20I debut.

4 – Wickets taken by Barinder Sran in powerplay overs in this game. He is only the 2nd Indian to take 4 wickets in a T20I game in powerplay overs. Ravi Ashwin picked 4 wickets vs Sri Lanka at Vizag this year.

5 – Barinder Sran became the 5th Indian player to pick Man of the Match award on T20I debut. Dinesh Karthik, Pragyan Ojha, S Badrinath and Axar Patel are the other four.

6 – KL Rahul played 6 balls before scoring a run in T20Is. Among Indians, only Gautam Gambhir took 6 balls to score his first run in T20Is.

6 – This is the 6th time India reduced a team to less than 100 runs in T20Is.

24 – Number of wickets Jasprit Bumrah has taken in T20Is in 2016, most by any player this year. These are the most T20I wickets taken by an Indian in a calendar year and 3rd most by any player.

41 – India completed the chase with 41 balls remaining. This is the 2nd highest margin of victory for India in terms of ball remaining. This is also the 2nd highest margin against Zimbabwe in this format.

99/9 – Zimbabwe’s total in this game is their 3rd lowest total in T20Is and their lowest at home.

103* – Partnership stand for opening wicket between KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh in this game. This only the 2nd century opening stand for India in T20Is. Highest is 136 between Virender Sehwag and Gambhir in 2007 vs England at Durban.
