10 Unexpected signings in IPL history
Some cases of unexpected signings in IPL.
7. Paul Valthaty, KXIP
The Punjab-based franchise might not have won the IPL in their history, but they are the most entertaining team. Even after trying every possible combination, they fall short. But, in 2011, the world witnessed a special performance from a youngster named Paul Valthaty.
He was a surprise signing, mainly because of the presence of many match-winners in their squad, Punjab signed Paul in their squad. Well, he took CSK bowlers to the cleaners in a match. From just 63 balls, Paul scored 120 runs. That innings proved to be the match-winning performance for Punjab.
But, unfortunately, he got just 6 matches in the next season. For a rising star, this was a bad sign. Unfortunately, since 2013, Paul has not played the IPL for any franchise. Who knows, if he was given proper chances, he could have been the next star batsman for India.
