Shreyas Iyer might consider himself a tad unlucky. After a good start to his ODI career, scoring a couple of half-centuries at No. 3, he batted at No. 5 in South Africa but got only two opportunities. He scored 18 and 30 in those two games. However, he was dropped after that and was never recalled to the side.

In the recent past, he has been in really good form. In fact, in his last 10 games, he has never been dismissed in single digits more than once. He has scored two hundreds and four fifties in his last 10 games. The Mumbai-born batsman was the highest run-getter in the Deodhar Trophy. He was consistent in the ‘A’ series in New Zealand as well. He fared well even in the recent ‘A’ series against the England Lions. Hence, he could be a genuine middle-order option and could be tried.
