When Manish Pandey struck that unbeaten 104 in Sydney in January 2016, helping India chase down 330, it seemed like India found a solution to their No. 4 crisis. However, the Karnataka batsman hasn’t lived up to expectation since. He has scored just one fifty since that hundred at the SCG.

Pandey has been in and out of the Indian side but hasn’t been consistent as well. He played a mere one ODI in 2018 and that was in the Asia Cup against Afghanistan. However, the 29-year-old has looked in really good touch in the last few months. He was the highest run-getter in the Quadrangular ‘A’ series, he struck an excellent ton against New Zealand ‘A’ in New Zealand and has looked in fabulous touch in the Ranji season as well.

Hence, Pandey has shown that he has the ability to score in tough situations and can slot in anywhere in the middle-order. However, he just hasn’t been able to convert his form to international cricket. But he can be given another opportunity.
