Lack of experience was the only reason for Shivam’s failure in IPL 2018. The southpaw had come into the tournament with the reputation of being a hard-hitter, a quality that fetched him a whopping amount of Rs 5 crores. But he failed to perform and was dropped after a few games.

But since then, the 26-year-old has gained a considerable amount of experience from domestic cricket and India-A games. He scored 177 runs in 5 Vijay Hazare Trophy games, which played a big part in Mumbai reaching till quarter-finals. RCB’s hopes and his own confidence would also be on a high after his maiden India call-up.

Shivam can fill the all-rounder’s slot in the squad, a vacancy that had haunted RCB in the last season. He can provide the luxury of bowling a few overs, apart from playing the finisher’s role in the lower-middle order. Thus, he would be a player to watch out for.
